ABOUT US
Welcome to our ranch and store, Royal Fibers.
We live in the Sacramento Valley of Northern California on about 10 acres. Ed and I have a lot of hobbies, and find a way to
use up most of the ground one way or another.
Our newest ventures are the farm store, Royal Fibers, and our investment in and small herd of  Guanacos. In 1998 we planted most of the land in
Almond trees.
Here you can see our young almond trees with a turkey running through the orchard. We often see the flock of wild turkeys,
foxes and coyotes wandering through the orchard. Due to the number of trees around the house, we also have many red shafted
flickers and other wildlife. We have recently adopted China, a rescued Great Pyrenees who guards our small flock of fiber
producing animals.
In addition to the fiber related animals, we raise
Giant Runt Pigeons. These are large birds, often weighing over 3 pounds. They are raised
for squab, which can dress out between 14 and 22 ounces. You can see them by going to our Pigeon Page.
Ed has owned this ranch since 1985, but I am a relative newcomer. Ed used to have sheep in the pasture, but after too many
cold, wet, midnight January lambings, he sold his flock of registered Suffolks. I am a spinner, and we are now rebuilding
a flock, though these are fiber producing breeds.
